목적어 이하에 대한 주어 역할
목적어는 동사의 직접적인 대상도 되지만, 동사의 영향을 받아 그 이하에 오는 부사, 형용사 혹은 전치사구의 주체가 되기도 한다. 동사의 의미를 먼저 해석하고 그 뒤로 순차적으로 이어지는 결과를 해석한다.
He pushed the door open. (밀어서 문을 열었다.)
He broke the vase into pieces. (꽃병을 깨뜨려서 박살내었다.)
