동사의 형식과 의미
동사의 형식에 따라 의미도 변화한다. 형식의 변화에 따른 의미 적용 요령을 익혀보도록 하자. 대표적인 예로 leave 동사의 형식에 따른 의미를 연구해 보자.
3형식
He left the room. 방에서 떠났다.
He left a job. 직장을 그만두었다.
He left a good name. 훌륭한 명성을 남겼다.
He left two sons and a daughter. 두 아들과 딸을 남기고 떠났다. (죽었다)
4형식
He left him a huge legacy. 그에게 많은 유산을 남겼다.
He left her no choice. 그녀에게 선택의 여지를 남기지 않았다.
5형식
Leave the door open. 문을 열어 두십시오.
